Volunteer with Lifelong Learning
The Lifelong Learning Program volunteers play a very important role in the effective planning, operation and execution of our program. There are lots of opportunities for involvement. Please contact our office if there is something that you would like to assist the Lifelong Learning Program with that is not listed here.
Propose a Course
- Wonderful opportunity to share your knowledge, hobby, interest or skill with others.
- Course structure, date(s), and times are all planned according to the instructors schedule.
- Will receive assistance/support from both staff and class assistant.
- Complete an online course proposal here.
Membership Committee
- Participate in recruiting new members to the Lifelong Learning Program.
- Distribute catalogs & information about the Lifelong Learning Program.
- Share LLP information with the community.
- Recommend courses which will stimulate and grow membership.
- Participate in Membership Kickoff Event Promotion.
Program Committee
- Recruit potential instructors placing emphasis on qualified individuals with special skills, knowledge and background relevant to the topics to be taught.
- Develop and review course proposals to ensure a wide array of interesting and stimulating courses will be offered every term.
- Recommend courses to the Lifelong Learning Program Coordinator.
- Participate in the planning and development of other learning events, such as community forums and university- and/or community-related projects.
- Assist in evaluating courses and overall operation of courses, trips, and special events.
Special Events Committee
- Plan, coordinate, and help implement special events and non-core activities (e.g., social events, picnics, etc.).
- Plan and implement special events to draw Lifelong Learning members together and attract new members.
- Provide assistance at events, as needed, in collaboration with the Academic Outreach, Continuing and Distance Education staff.
Class Assistants
- Assists in participant classroom set up and participant check-in.
- Assists instructor by distributing handouts and other class materials.
- Welcome class participants
- Collecting course evaluations, and other class-related tasks assigned
